Anna Toropova's research centres on the interplay between mass media and structures of feeling under Soviet state socialism. Her PhD thesis examined the role of Stalinist cinema in the emotional and affective education of the New Soviet Person. Her new project explores how late Soviet film and television negotiated the emotional situation of the Brezhnev era.
